SANA’A (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The US military aggression against Yemen continued for the second consecutive day on Monday, while Yemen’s armed forces and Ansarullah group announced targeting the US aircraft carrier “Harry Truman” for the second time within 24 hours.
The US central command released a video showing fighter jets taking off from an aircraft carrier to carry out attacks on sites in Yemen.
Media outlets affiliated with Yemen’s Ansarullah group reported that US airstrikes targeted at dawn Monday a cotton gin facility in al-Hudaydah City’s Zabid district in the west of Yemen and the government complex in al-Hazm district in the northeastern province of Jawf.
In a communiqué on Sunday, spokesman for Yemen’s armed forces Yehya Sariee said that different military units in the country targeted the “USS Harry Truman” aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea with a number of drones and ballistic and cruise missiles for the second time within 24 hours.
Spokesman Sariee reiterated that Yemen “remains committed to supporting and defending Palestine” and that “naval operations will continue until the Israeli blockade on Gaza is lifted and humanitarian aid is allowed in.”
The US army, for its part, claimed that 11 drones and one ballistic missile were fired from Yemen at the USS Harry Truman carrier and its supporting ships.
According to the army, the engagements started shortly after midnight local time on Sunday, March 16, and lasted approximately 12 hours. All the drones were shot down by US fighter jets over the Red Sea, while the ballistic missile splashed into the water.
The Yemeni counterattacks on the US carrier and ships took place one day after the navy carried out several deadly strikes on targets in western Yemen. The strikes, including in the capital city of Sana’a, killed and injured dozens of civilians.
