GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Ministry of Health in Gaza has warned that the repeated targeting of hospitals by the Israeli occupation army poses a serious threat to healthcare as the entry of medical supplies and field hospitals continues to be blocked, and the number of injured increases due to ongoing aggression.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry said that Israel continued its targeting of the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip, having attacked the surgery department at Nasser Medical Complex yesterday evening, resulting in the martyrdom of two injured individuals receiving treatment, as well as a massive fire breaking out on the second floor housing the department, and extensive destruction of medical equipment.
The Ministry of Health reported that this attack caused panic and confusion among the injured, patients, and medical staff within the complex, affirming that this assault is part of a series of crimes committed by the occupation army against the healthcare sector, which includes targeting medical teams, withholding medications and supplies, and destroying hospitals and care centers, in addition to damaging medical equipment and ambulances.
The ministry emphasized that health institutions are protected under international laws and conventions, calling on human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to stop the Israeli violations against the healthcare sector.
It is noteworthy that this targeting comes just days after the destruction of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, and before it the Shifa Medical Complex, the Rantisi, Al-Nasr, Kamal Adwan, and Indonesian hospitals, confirming Israel’s ongoing targeting of the healthcare system as part of the genocide it is waging against the Gaza Strip.
