Number of martyred journalists in Gaza rises to 208

GAZA  (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza announced that the number of martyred journalists has risen to 208 since the start of the genocidal war on the Strip, following the announcement of the martyrdom of journalist Mohammed Mansour, correspondent of Palestine Today satellite channel, and Al Jazeera Mubasher reporter Hussam Shabat.

In a statement on Monday, the GMO condemned in the strongest terms the targeting, killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation forces, and called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all press bodies in all countries of the world to condemn these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in the Gaza Strip.

It held Israel, the US administration, and the countries participating in the crime of genocide such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for committing this brutal crime.

The GMO called on the international community, international organizations, and journalism and media affiliated organizations worldwide to condemn the Israeli crimes and prosecute Israel in international courts for its brutal crimes and to exert serious and effective pressure to stop the crime of genocide and to protect journalists and media professionals in the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the Media Forum mourned the martyr journalist Mansour, noting that he and his wife died on the path of freedom paved with blood and sacrifices, and for the sake of supporting the oppressed Palestinian people and conveying their suffering to the whole world, as a result of a treacherous Israeli shelling of a house in the Al-Batn Al-Sameen area, south of Khan Yunis.

The Palestinian Media Forum denounced the international silence and inability to protect Palestinian journalists and enable them to fulfill their professional duty in accordance with international laws and humanitarian covenants.
