GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has slammed a statement by the US, which claimed the Palestinian Movement “uses ambulances and more broadly human shields for terrorism.”
It said the remarks by Brian Hughes, a spokesperson for the US National Security Council, express the Trump administration’s “understanding of the crime of executing Red Crescent and Civil Defense personnel in Rafah”.
“[The remarks] are a hideous example of immoral solidarity with the Nazis of our time in their brutal war against defenseless civilians and humanitarian organizations,” the Movement said.
“Hughes’s accusations that Hamas is using ambulances are pure lies, devoid of any evidence, propagated by the US administration, alongside the government of war criminal Netanyahu, to justify its heinous and documented crime against paramedics and rescue workers.”
“The video released by The New York Times confirmed the horrific nature of the crime committed by the fascist Israeli army against humanitarian aid workers, who are protected under international law. It is one of hundreds of crimes perpetrated against paramedics, civil defense teams, UN staff, and all civil institutions throughout the months of aggression.”
Hamas concluded by saying: “The US administration must stop its open support for the targeting of humanitarian efforts and the killing and burning of children and civilians. It must compel the terrorist Zionist government to cease its violations of international laws and norms, rather than continuing to grant war criminals a criminal cover to persist in crimes against humanity.”
The Israeli occupation resumed its assault and tightened siege on the Gaza Strip at dawn on 18 March 2025, following a two-month pause under a ceasefire agreement that had come into effect on 19 January. However, the occupation had already violated the terms of the ceasefire throughout the previous two months.
With US and European support, Israel has been committing a genocide in the Gaza Strip since 7 October 2023, resulting in over 166,000 Palestinian casualties—killed and wounded—the majority of whom are children and women, along with more than 14,000 missing persons.
