WEST BANK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A Palestinian man was injured by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Sunday in al-Khalil, southern West Bank, as Israeli settlers assaulted civilians, including children, in a nearby village.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its medical teams transported a 58-year-old man to the hospital after he was shot with live ammunition near the Farsh Al-Hawa military checkpoint, northwest of al-Khalil.
The victim was identified by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA as Raed Shaaban Abu Sami, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Following the incident, the IOF closed the road in both directions.
In a separate incident, local activist Osama Makhamera said that a group of Jewish settlers violently assaulted Palestinian residents and their children in the village of Al-Halawah, located in the Masafer Yatta area south of the city.
Two girls, Majdoleen Hani Abu Aram and Rahaf Mahmoud Abu Aram, sustained bruises and were transferred to Yatta Government Hospital for medical treatment.
Several residents, who attempted to shield the children from the assault, were detained by the Israeli forces.
Further reports from Jericho indicate that settlers attacked Palestinian homes in the Arab Al-Malihyat community, northwest of the city.
According to Hassan Mlihiyat, director of the Al-Baydar Organization, settlers entered the area, threatened residents, and hurled stones at homes, causing panic and property damage.
Since the beginning of Israel’s military campaign in the Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023, violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has escalated significantly. Official Palestinian figures report that over 947 Palestinians have been killed, nearly 7,000 injured, and more than 15,800 arrested during this period.
