GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Ministry of Health in Gaza has announced that over 1,400 medical professionals have been killed since the beginning of the US-backed Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released on Tuesday via Telegram, the ministry confirmed: “More than 1,400 members of the healthcare workforce have been martyred, while approximately 360 others remain detained in Israeli prisons.”
Since the onset of the Israeli offensive on 7 October 2023, the majority of hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza have been subjected to repeated bombardment, resulting in the systematic destruction of the territory’s healthcare infrastructure and the denial of essential medical care to thousands of wounded and sick individuals.
With full support from the United States, Israel has continued its military operations in Gaza, which have so far resulted in the killing and injury of nearly 167,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children. In addition, more than 11,000 individuals remain missing.
Israel has maintained a blockade on Gaza for 18 years. As a result of the ongoing war, approximately 1.5 million of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents are now displaced, and the territory is facing a full-scale famine due to Israel’s closure of border crossings and prevention of humanitarian aid from entering.
