Yemen: Massive rallies in solidarity with Gaza in Sana’a and Saada

SANA’A (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Hundreds of thousands of Yemeni citizens participated in massive pro-Gaza rallies staged by the Ansarullah group in the capital city, Sana’a, and Saada province on Friday afternoon.

The participants in the rallies renewed their unwavering support for the Palestinians in Gaza, who are facing genocide, and vowed to avenge the last US airstrikes on the Ras Issa Port in the Yemeni city of Hodeida that claimed the lives of at least 80 people and injured 150 others.

The rallies were staged under the slogan “Standing firmly with Gaza in the face of the US-Israeli escalation.”

The US attack on Ras Issa is considered a major escalation and the deadliest known strike so far in president Donald Trump’s pro-Israel military campaign against northern Yemen.

The strikes on Thursday night caused massive fires and considerable destruction to the port, its equipment and fuel tanks, with satellite images showing oil leaking into the Red Sea. The casualties are reportedly civilian employees, oil truck drivers, rescue workers and paramedics, as well as citizens who were nearby.

The US army justified its attack by claiming that the goal was “to cut off the Houthis’ fuel supply and revenue.”

During the march in Sana’a, spokesman for Yemen’s armed forces Yehya Sariee delivered a keynote statement. He announced that the missile force had conducted a military operation targeting a military objective in the vicinity of Ben Gurion Airport in occupied Jaffa, utilizing a “Dhulfikar” ballistic missile.

Sariee stated that for the second consecutive month, the armed forces are actively and responsibly countering the US aggression against Yemen, fulfilling their promise to meet escalation with escalation.

He reported that the missile, air, and naval forces had jointly carried out a dual military operation targeting the US aircraft carriers “Truman” and “Vinson,” along with the warships escorting them, in the Red and Arabian Seas, using a number of winged missiles and drones. He noted that this marked the first targeting of the carrier “Vinson” since its arrival in the Arabian Sea.

The spokesman also announced that the Yemeni air defenses successfully shot down a US MQ-9 aircraft as it was carrying out hostile activities in the airspace of Sana’a province.
