GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has stressed that the Israeli plan to build a security wall along the eastern border with Jordan will not protect the Israeli occupation regime from the consequences of its escalating crimes and violations against the Palestinian people, their land and holy sites.
“Israel’s settlement expansion plans will only strengthen the Palestinian people’s determination to pursue resistance as an effective path to liberate Palestine,” Hamas said in a statement on Sunday.
“Israel’s previous security wall projects have failed to suppress the Palestinian people’s resistance and quell their unyielding anger, which will persist until the occupation is removed and their historical rights are reclaimed,” Hamas added.
The Movement called on the Arab and Islamic countries to pool their efforts to confront and foil the Israeli occupation’s colonial projects and settlement expansion plans in the region.
The Israeli security cabinet on Sunday announced its approval of war minister Israel Katz’s plan to construct a high-tech security barrier along the eastern Palestinian border with Jordan to strengthen Israeli presence in the Jordan Valley.
The project — slated to begin in June — will include a 425-kilometer multi-layered defense system stretching from the southern occupied Syrian Golan Heights to the city of Eilat in the south.
The $1.4 billion plan is expected to take three years and will combine a physical barrier with advanced sensors, mobile military units and command infrastructure.
