OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli police reopened three gates of the Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday after keeping it closed since last Friday, amid widespread calls to intensify Palestinian presence in the holy site.
Eyewitnesses said that at 6:15 p.m. today, the Israeli forces opened the al-Majlis Gate, Hitta Gate, and al-Silsila Gate of the Aqsa Mosque, after six days of closure.
According to the witnesses, worshipers began arriving at Aqsa’s prayer halls this evening following the announcement of the gates’ reopening to perform the Maghrib and Isha prayers.
The Israeli police had shut down the Aqsa Mosque at dawn last Friday until further notice, coinciding with Israel’s declaration of war against Iran. Worshipers were barred from entry, except for the Mosque staff and guards.
