Karachi (Palestine Foundation Information Center)Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto) Chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr. has declared his unequivocal rejection of a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue, demanding instead a “just solution.” His statement came alongside fierce condemnation of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s reported remarks linking recognition of Israel to Palestinian statehood.
Bhutto Jr. targeted a statement attributed to Ishaq Dar on social media, in which the Foreign Minister allegedly said Pakistan would recognize Israel only after the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
“We only recognize Palestine,”Bhutto Jr. asserted, calling any suggestion of conditional recognition or support for a two-state solution “unacceptable”.
His condemnation echoed earlier fury from Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam, Secretary General of the Palestine Foundation Pakistan (PLF) Reacting to a report by Turkiya Urdu News, Dr. Abo Maryam expressed deep anger, labeling Ishaq Dar’s conditional stance a betrayal of Pakistan’s founding principles espoused by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.
“This is not the policy of Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan it is the policy of the American Abrahamic Covenant,”Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam stated, insisting Jinnah’s clear position was to “never recognize Israel.”
He appealed to all Pakistani political and religious leaders to denounce Ishaq Dar’s remarks.
The controversy stems from a Turkiya Urdu report quoting FM Dar rejecting Pakistan’s participation in the Abraham Accords while stating: We will recognize Israel only when the state of Palestine is established, and Jerusalem is its capital.” Ishaq Dar emphasized no change to Pakistan’s decades-old policy.
