OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement condemned the storming of the courtyards of the blessed Aqsa Mosque by dozens of settlers under the protection of Israeli occupation police.
The settlers performed Talmudic rituals after the Mosque had been emptied of worshipers, a move Hamas described as a dangerous escalation and a violation of the sanctity of the Aqsa, calling it a “desperate attempt to assert Zionist control” over the holy Islamic site.
In a statement issued Sunday evening, Hamas called on Palestinians in Occupied Jerusalem, the West Bank, and within the Green Line to rally at the Aqsa Mosque, remain steadfast within it, and defend it against “the occupation government’s attempt to Judaize it.”
Hamas also urged Arab and Islamic nations to take meaningful action to protect Islam’s first Qibla from desecration and attempts to alter its identity.
Earlier this morning, dozens of Israeli settlers stormed the Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli police, entering through the Magharibeh Gate. They performed prayers and Talmudic rituals in the eastern area of the Mosque.
During the incursion, Israeli police restricted Muslim worshipers’ access to the Mosque, clearing the way for the settlers.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have imposed severe restrictions on Jerusalem, including erecting dozens of military checkpoints at village entrances and neighborhood access points, as well as banning West Bank residents from entering the city and praying at the Aqsa Mosque.
