GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Gaza’s General Directorate of Police said on Saturday that Colonel Omar Aqel, police chief of an-Nuseirat, was assassinated along with his family in an Israeli airstrike on his home in az-Zawaida town in central Gaza.
The aerial attack on Aqel’s house claimed the lives of 11 members of his family, according to the Police Directorate.
The Police Directorate mourned Aqel and called on the international community and the UN to provide Gaza’s police personnel with protection in accordance with the international law.
Local media and authorities described Saturday as “one of the deadliest days of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip,” saying that a total of 133 Palestinians were martyred in different Israeli attacks, including 38 aid seekers near or at US-backed distribution points.
Health authorities also announced the death of three children from malnutrition yesterday.
