GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has condemned the large-scale raid on the Aqsa Mosque on Sunday by Israeli settlers, led by extremist Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Knesset member Amit Halevi, declaring that such incursions will not succeed in altering the Mosque’s Islamic character.
In a press statement, Hamas described the raid as “an escalating crime” and part of the broader Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, their land, and their holy sites.
The Movement said settlers entered the Mosque’s courtyards under heavy guard by Israeli occupation police forces, waving Israeli flags and banners depicting the so-called “Third Temple,” after forcibly clearing the Mosque of worshippers and tightening military control in the Old City.
“These repeated incursions, especially during Jewish holidays, will not impose a new status quo on the Aqsa or erase its Arab and Islamic identity,” the statement read.
Hamas held the Israeli government fully responsible for the massacres in Gaza, the violence in the West Bank, and systematic violations in Jerusalem, warning that such policies threaten regional and global stability.
The Movement called on the international community and the United Nations to take action against the Israeli ongoing crimes. It also urged Arab and Islamic nations to act urgently to halt violations at the Aqsa and all Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Palestine.
Hamas concluded by calling on the Palestinian people, resistance factions, and youth to continue confronting Israeli plans, asserting that the struggle will persist until the liberation of the land and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
