DAMACUS, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation army announced Sunday that it carried out a nighttime raid targeting four locations in the town of Hadar, southern Syria, claiming the operation targeted “suspected arms smugglers.”
According to a military statement, the raid was based on what it called “prior intelligence and field investigations.”
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) said they seized weapons including rifles and grenades and shared images purporting to show the confiscated arms. The operation was led by Unit 210, which operates in areas adjacent to the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
The IOF justified the incursion as part of efforts to “prevent terrorist elements from establishing positions” inside Syrian territory and to “protect residents” of Israel.
Hadar, located near the occupied Golan Heights, is frequently targeted by Israeli intelligence and military activity, with Tel Aviv often citing vague security threats to justify incursions into Syrian land.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that the IOF stormed a civilian home on the Hadar–Tarnja road and converted it into a military base. Roughly 40 troops with vehicles were deployed in the area, triggering alarm among local residents.
The raid is part of a broader escalation in Israeli cross-border military operations in Syria, with the strategic aims and future implications of these movements remaining unclear.
