Hamas: Aid entering Gaza is drop in the ocean

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement said that the starvation policy imposed by the Israeli occupation on the residents of the Gaza Strip, which has claimed the lives of hundreds, including dozens of children, represents “the ugliest chapter of the genocide” against the Palestinian people.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Movement said that the aid entering the Strip is “nothing more than a drop in the ocean of humanitarian needs,” stressing that the airdrops are “propaganda stunts” that carry serious risks to civilian lives and are no substitute for “opening land crossings and bringing in trucks in sufficient and safe quantities.”

Hamas accused the US administration and the states supporting Israel of being “partners in the war of starvation and genocide by providing political and military cover to the occupation.”

The Movement demanded the immediate and unconditional opening of all crossings and the entry of sufficient and secure aid to meet the needs of the Strip’s residents, calling for official Arab and Islamic action to pressure Washington and Tel Aviv to stop what it described as war crimes.

Hamas also urged intensifying popular mobilization in world capitals to condemn the occupation, push for an end to the “war of starvation and genocide,” and break the siege on Gaza “by all legitimate means.”

Earlier on Sunday, the Government Media Office in Gaza reported that only 1,210 aid trucks had entered the Strip in 14 days, out of the 8,400 trucks needed to confront famine during the same period, representing just 14% of actual needs.

It pointed out that “most of the trucks were looted and robbed amid a deliberate security chaos engineered by the Israeli occupation as part of its starvation and chaos policy aimed at breaking the resilience of the Palestinian people.”

Recently, the UN’s World Food Program warned that “a third of Gaza’s population (out of roughly 2.4 million Palestinians in the Strip) have not eaten for several days.”
