SANA’A, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Yemen’s armed forces announced on Friday the launch of one hypersonic ballistic missile (Palestine 2) at Ben Gurion Airport and two drones at military and vital targets in Ashkelon and Jaffa in response to Israel’s ongoing genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip.
In the statement aired by Yemen’s al-Masirah satellite channel, military spokesman Yehya Sariee said the strikes achieved their goals, halting air traffic and forcing thousands of Israelis to run for shelter.
Spokesman Sariee vowed continued attacks against Israel until its aggression against the Gaza Strip stops and its blockade is lifted.
Meanwhile, the Hebrew media quoted Israeli military and medical sources as saying that a missile fired from Yemen landed in central Israel on Friday evening without causing casualties.
The Israeli army claimed the Yemeni missile appeared to have fragmented in midair, with shrapnel falling near Ben Gurion Airport.
The Israeli army also said it intercepted a drone fired from Yemen towards Israeli areas near the Gaza Strip. No damage or casualties were reported.
Air raid sirens reportedly sounded across central Israel, including Tel Aviv and west Jerusalem, after smartphone alerts were issued.
Several Israelis were bruised while rushing to shelters and others suffered psychological trauma during the strikes, according to local news reports.
In a related context, huge crowds took part in rallies on Friday in Yemen in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been facing an ongoing Israeli genocidal war since October 7, 2023.
Hundreds of thousands of Yemeni citizens rallied in northern provinces, most notably in the cities of Sana’a, Hudaydah, and Saada, according to al-Masirah channel.
In “as-Sabeen Square” in Sana’a, protesters carried Yemeni and Palestinian flags alongside banners affirming Yemen’s unwavering support for Gaza. They also chanted slogans in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza.
