AL-KHALIL,(Palestine Foundation Information Center ) A Palestinian prisoner, Musab Abdel-Munim al-Eida, 20, died Monday from critical injuries he sustained after being shot by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) last Thursday in central Al-Khalil, southern West Bank.
According to the Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority, al-Eida succumbed to his wounds after IOF soldiers stationed at a military checkpoint in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood opened fire on him, seriously wounding him before detaining him while injured.
Prisoner rights groups said al-Eida’s martyrdom highlights the extreme abuses Palestinians face in Israeli prisons, where systematic torture has expanded beyond conventional definitions. They noted that every aspect of prison life has been turned into a tool of abuse, starting from the moment of arrest.
Since the beginning of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, IOF has escalated brutal policies against thousands of Palestinian detainees, including torture, starvation, and denial of medical care, measures rights advocates warn amount to deliberate attempts to strip prisoners of their humanity and, in many cases, kill them slowly.
