Hamas commends Türkiye’s support for the Palestinian people

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center ) The Hamas Movement has appreciated Türkiye’s supportive stances toward the Palestinian people amid the brutal genocide waged by the “Zionist enemy”.

In a statement, Hamas referred to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s remarks, which emphasized stopping all economic and trade ties with the “Zionist entity,” closing Turkish airspace to its aircraft, and exposing its continuous crimes and aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Hamas also urged Türkiye, along with Arab and Islamic nations and the free world to escalate punitive measures against the Israeli regime, sever all relations, and isolate it. These actions, Hamas said, are necessary to compel Israel to end the genocide, halt the destruction of Gaza and its way of life, and hold its leaders accountable for crimes against humanity.

On Friday, Türkiye announced a series of punitive measures against Israel over the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Speaking at an emergency parliamentary session addressing Israel’s widening assault on Gaza, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, “We have completely cut trade with Israel, closed our ports to Israeli ships, and prohibited Turkish vessels from calling at Israeli ports.”

He further declared that Türkiye will not allow weapons-laden ships bound for Israel to enter its ports, nor will it allow Israeli aircraft to enter its airspace.

Fidan warned that if Israel is allowed to continue its reckless attacks on Palestine, especially Gaza, the repercussions will extend beyond Palestinians and could ignite the entire region.

He reiterated Türkiye’s opposition to any plan involving the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, affirming that “Palestinian resistance will rewrite history.”

Describing Israel’s genocide as “one of the darkest chapters in human history,” Fidan stated that Israel has flagrantly violated humanitarian values by carrying out a genocide in Gaza for the past two years, “right before the world’s eyes.”

Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post reported that Turkish port authorities have reportedly begun informally requesting shipping companies to provide letters affirming that their vessels are not associated with Israel and are not carrying Israeli military equipment.

Fidan also criticized the international system, saying that it has failed to fulfill its responsibilities to stop Israel’s massacres. He lashed out at Israel’s “brutal policy of starvation” aimed at expelling Palestinians from Gaza by making the territory uninhabitable.

He asserted that Israel’s aim is clear: to render Gaza “unlivable” to force a mass departure, noting that Israel’s refusal to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza has led to thousands of deaths from hunger.

Fidan further warned that Israel’s aggressive policies have extended beyond Gaza to Jerusalem, the West Bank, Syria, Iran, and Lebanon, seeking to sow regional chaos. He highlighted that Israel’s leadership disregards international law entirely.

Fidan expressed concern over Israel’s encroachments into the Aqsa Mosque and ongoing tensions with Iran, warning that these developments threaten regional security and stability. He emphasized that while Israel may not want a strong, stable Syria, Türkiye won’t allow such destabilizing policies to persist.
