Israeli settlers attack Palestinian homes and block students’ route in al Khalil

AL-KHALIL, (The Palestinian Information Center)  Armed Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian homes and properties on Wednesday, preventing students from reaching their schools in the Al-Tayaran neighborhood, south of al-Khalil.

Resident Bassam Al-Zaareer said settlers assaulted citizens’ homes with tractors, carried out provocative tours around those homes, and flew drones toward sheep pens, causing the livestock to scatter and flee.

He added that settlers come to the area almost daily, especially at night, near citizens’ homes and sheep pens, where they play loud music and blow what is known as the “shofar” in an attempt to frighten children and women.

A group of settlers also herded their cattle onto the only road leading to the community, blocking students from passing and forcing them to return home without reaching their schools.

Local sources said that residents in the area are suffering greatly due to settler attacks, as settlers impose a de facto siege on them, preventing them from leaving their homes, grazing their sheep, or receiving visitors, all as part of efforts to pressure them to leave their land.

Settlers have recently escalated their attacks to the point of posing a real threat to residents’ lives, forcing families to relocate women and children to another area, leaving only the men behind to guard their land and property.

In a related development, settlers continued building a settlement road on Palestinian-owned land, starting from the bypass road near the entrance of Khirbet Aqwais, east of Yatta, south of al-Khalil, leading up to the top of the Ma’in archaeological hill, which settlers are threatening to seize and raid almost daily.
