GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center)Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced its decision to release the US-Israeli captive soldier Eitan Alexander on Monday.
Abu Obeida made the announcement in a brief statement on his Telegram channel.
According to media sources, a temporary ceasefire is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. local time and end with the release of soldier Edan Alexander.
On Sunday evening, Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza and head of the negotiating delegation, said that “as part of the efforts made by the mediating brothers to achieve a ceasefire, the Movement has been in contact with the US administration over the past few days.”
Al-Hayya added in a statement that Hamas “has shown great positivity, and Israeli soldier Edan Alexander, who has dual US citizenship, will be released as part of the steps taken to achieve a ceasefire, open the crossings, and allow aid and relief to reach our people in the Gaza Strip.”
