Abu Safiya: Israeli attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital kills child, injures 12

GAZA   (Palestine Foundation Information Center) An Israeli drone strike on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza on Thursday killed a 16-year-old boy in a wheelchair and wounded at least 12 other people, including medical staff, the hospital director said.

Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya said an Israeli drone deliberately targeted patients and staff at the entrance of the reception and emergency area of Kamal Adwan Hospital, killing 16-year-old Mahmoud Abu Al-Aish, a patient who was being taken in a wheelchair to the radiology department.

Abu Safiya added in press statements, “Just an hour ago, the area surrounding the hospital was hit by a drone strike, which also led to the killing of a young man in his thirties.”

He added that this situation has become almost daily in and around Kamal Adwan Hospital.

Abu Safiya pointed out that a number of medical staff members were injured during the attack, one of whom is in critical condition and undergoing surgery.

It is not the first time Israeli forces targeted a hospital today. Earlier, they also targeted the water tanks of the Indonesian Hospital, which is not operational but has been home for displaced people.

Also, earlier today, a house behind Kamal Adwan Hospital was targeted in an attack that killed seven Palestinians.

Kamal Adwan Hospital is one of the few hospitals still partially operating in the northernmost part of Gaza, where Israeli forces are pressing an offensive that has almost completely sealed off the area from humanitarian aid for two months.
