AMSTERDAM, (The Palestine Information Centre)The family of the activist Amin Abu Rashed has expressed its deep concern about the continued detention of Abu Rashed in Dutch prisons.
In a press statement on Thursday, Abu Rashed’s family underlined that he has been detained for more than two months without trial, affirming that the Dutch courts reject its demands to release Abu Rashed until his trial hearings begin.
The family affirmed that the continued detention of Abu Rashed despite his deteriorating health condition constitutes a grave violation of the international laws and conventions.
“The Dutch authorities continue to detain Abu Rashed based on false Israeli claims and pressure,” the family said, calling on the authorities to release him immediately.
Meanwhile, the #FreeAmin campaign held a conference in Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, this evening to demand releasing Abu Rashed immediately.
Abu Rashed, who was detained last June, is a Palestinian-Dutch citizen who supports the Palestinian people inside Palestine and in the diaspora. He is the head of the European Campaign to Lift the Siege on Gaza
