Administrative detainee Khaled Abdullah dies in Israeli prison

RAMALLAH (Palestine Foundation Information Center)Palestinian rights groups concerned with prisoners’ affairs announced the martyrdom of the administrative detainee Khaled Abdullah in Israel’s Megiddo prison eight days ago.

The Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs Commission and Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said in a statement on Monday that the martyr Abdullah, 40, had been held captive in Israeli jails under the illegal administrative detention since 9/11/2023 and was martyred on 23/2/2025 as a result of the Israeli systematic crimes.

For its part, the Hamas Movement warned the “criminal Israeli occupation against continuing its heinous crimes against Palestinian prisoners in its prisons.”

Hamas said in a statement on Monday that the martyrdom of the administrative detainee Khaled Abdullah in prison confirms once again the systematic crimes committed against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

It added that the martyrdom of prisoner Abdullah, and the torture and abuse he was subjected to during his detention, “proves Israeli occupation’s brutal treatment of our prisoners, including depriving them of the most basic human rights, with the continuation of the policy of medical neglect, which means the slow killing of those prisoners.”

Hamas warned against the continuation of the Israeli criminal policy against prisoners, renewing its call to all free people in the world and human rights and legal bodies to pressure Israel and hold it accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people, and to support the prisoners in light of the tragic circumstances they are exposed to.

The martyr Abdullah, who is from Jenin refugee camp, is married and has four children. He has two brothers who are administrative detainees as well: Shadi and Iyad Abdullah. According to his family, he was not suffering from any health problem before his arrest.

The Commission and PPS stated that Khaled Abdullah is the third detainee whose martyrdom has been announced within a week, bringing the number of martyrs among the prisoners and detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023 to 61 martyrs, including at least 40 from Gaza.

They confirmed that this number is the highest in history, making this stage the bloodiest in the history of the prisoner movement since 1967.

The two human rights groups added that the martyrdom of the detainee Khaled Abdullah constitutes a new crime in the record of the Israeli brutality, which has reached its peak since the beginning of the war of extermination in Gaza, holding Israel fully responsible for the martyrdom of the detainee Abdullah.

They reiterated their demands for the international human rights system to move forward in taking effective decisions to hold Israeli occupation officials accountable for the war crimes they continue to commit against the Palestinian people, and to impose sanctions on Israel that would place it in a state of clear international isolation and restore the human rights system to its basic role for which it was created.
