IOF assaults two youths in occupied Jerusalem; settlers uproot 60 olive trees

WEST BANK, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)The Israeli police forces assaulted two young Palestinian men in Occupied Jerusalem, arresting one of them, as they continued their incursions across the occupied West Bank and attacks on Palestinians. In a separate incident, a group of Jewish settlers uprooted dozens of olive trees.

Local sources reported that Israeli occupation forces (IOF) raided the town of Al-Ram, north of Occupied Jerusalem. According to the Jerusalem Governorate, large numbers of Israeli soldiers stormed the area, searched vehicles, and disrupted traffic.

The IOF also set up a military checkpoint in the town of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem. Another checkpoint was moved to the Baloua Junction between the old and new parts of the town, where soldiers stopped and searched vehicles and checked citizens’ IDs.

In the village of Dura al-Qare’, north of Ramallah, Israeli military vehicles stormed several neighborhoods. No injuries or arrests were reported.

In another raid, the IOF entered the village of Burin, south of Nablus, where they set up a checkpoint at one of the entrances and blocked Palestinian vehicles from passing. The IOF troops reportedly forced shop owners to close and evacuated two families from their homes, converting the houses into military posts.

In Qalqilya, Israeli forces raided several homes in the Kafr Saba neighborhood. They also stormed Beit Ummar town, north of al-Khalil in the southern West Bank.

Local sources said a group of settlers attacked the outskirts of Burqa village, east of Ramallah, attempting to storm the area before retreating. No injuries or material damage were reported.

In Susya village, in the Masafer Yatta area south of al-Khalil, settlers also attacked Palestinian farmland and uprooted 60 olive trees.

Media activist Osama Makhamra said the settlers destroyed the trees, owned by brothers Abdullah and Mohammed Ayoub Ubaid, cut down fencing around the land, and filled in a water well under construction.

They also released their cows and sheep into grape vineyards and other trees in the Khillet al-Hums area near Iskaka, southeast of Yatta.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settlers have carried out 158 attacks against olive harvesters since the beginning of this season. Of these, 17 were carried out by Israeli forces, while 141 were perpetrated by settlers.

The attacks have included violent physical assaults, arrests, movement restrictions, and intimidation tactics, including direct gunfire, as recently occurred in Tubas Governorate.
