OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Tens of thousands of Palestinians performed Friday prayers at the Aqsa Mosque and its courtyards, defying the strict Israeli restrictions in Occupied Jerusalem.
Since early morning, the Israeli police have enforced severe measures on worshippers trying to access the Mosque through military checkpoints surrounding Jerusalem. They also set up iron barriers around the Old City and at the Mosque gates.
The police forces stopped dozens of young men, checked their IDs, and prevented many from reaching the holy site in an apparent attempt to limit the number of worshippers.
Amid these oppressive measures, Palestinian voices in Occupied Jerusalem continued to call for urgent action to defend Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic holy sites and to stop the daily attacks aimed at erasing the Arab and Islamic identity of the city.
