GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanou said that “the negotiations of the second phase, or extending the first phase, or merging all the phases, are based on the demands of the resistance and the red lines it has set.”
Al-Qanou added in press statements that “contacts with mediators are ongoing and any new ideas can be discussed to overcome the occupation’s obstruction of the agreement and to ensure its commitment to all the terms”.
He stressed that “ensuring the release of the remaining captives is to end the war, withdraw from the Strip, and start Gaza reconstruction.”
Earlier Monday, al-Qanou said that Israel’s failure to implement all the provisions of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza “does not serve the process of moving forward towards completing the release of the remaining Israeli prisoners.”
“The resistance will not engage in any new negotiations unless the occupation abides by the agreement and implements the requirements of the first phase,” Al-Qanou added.
He condemned Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu for “obstructing the implementation of all the terms of the agreement,” adding that “the failure to implement the humanitarian protocol and the postponement of the release of the seventh batch of Palestinian prisoners is evidence of the occupation’s intentions to disrupt the agreement and its lack of seriousness in continuing it.”
