GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Gaza’s Civil Defense crews have recovered the bodies of more than 30 martyrs from a mass grave, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.
The statement noted that Civil Defense teams have been working for the fourth consecutive day to recover the bodies of martyrs from makeshift graves scattered across various areas of the Gaza Strip.
During the recovery operations, a new mass grave containing over 30 bodies was discovered within the walls of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.
The agency estimated the total number of bodies buried in these graves to be around 300 and confirmed that its teams are continuing recovery efforts.
Earlier this month, the Gaza Ministry of Health announced the beginning of a process to relocate bodies that were buried inside the Al-Shifa Complex. It clarified that this transfer, coordinated with the relevant authorities, would begin on Sunday, December 7. After that date, all recovered bodies would be treated as unidentified and moved to the Deir al-Balah cemetery in central Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation, backed by the US and Europe, has carried out a genocidal war on Gaza for two years, involving killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and mass arrests, while ignoring international appeals and defying International Court of Justice rulings to halt the violence.
The Israeli war has resulted in over 239,000 Palestinians killed or injured, the majority of whom are women and children. Over 11,000 are missing, while hundreds of thousands have been displaced. Famine has also claimed many lives, mostly children, and widespread destruction has effectively wiped many parts of Gaza off the map.
