American doctor: Hunger has reached horrific level in Gaza

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) American doctor Noor Sharaf, currently in the Gaza Strip, has warned in a statement on Wednesday that hunger in the enclave has reached a horrific level.

Speaking from Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Sharaf said that the current situation in Gaza is unlike anything she has ever witnessed. She confirmed that the emergency department has no space to receive the wounded, who are being treated on the floor of the hospital.

She said that doctors are working long hours that exceed their scheduled shifts, without access to food. She added, “We see people who haven’t eaten for several days collapsing from hunger.”
