American doctor sends heart-wrenching message from Gaza: “Death here is beyond imagination”

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Amid a worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, as the Israeli siege continues to strangle what remains of life in the besieged enclave, rare testimonies are emerging from the ground, revealing what cameras cannot capture and what international delegations fail to witness.

Dr. Farhan Abdulaziz, an American physician who entered Gaza as part of a volunteer medical team, described the situation as “beyond imagination,” affirming that the hunger and devastation surpass anything conceivable, and that the scenes of death and suffering he witnessed can no longer be ignored by the world.

“When numbers fail to tell the full story, only human eyes can,” said Abdulaziz. “I didn’t come to Gaza as a visitor, I came as a witness. While bodies cried out for help and the moans of the dying echoed through halls without medicine, my voice trembled as I said: ‘We have seen the unimaginable… people are dying for no reason.’”

Conditions beyond comprehension

Speaking at a medical conference in Gaza, Dr. Abdulaziz described how he saw “patients sprawled across the floors, without beds, without medicine, not even basic painkillers.” He added, “Every patient clutched my hand or leg and pleaded, ‘Help me… help me.’ But there was nothing I could give them, not because I didn’t want to, but because of the suffocating siege blocking medicines, equipment, food, and even clean water.”

A call to open the crossings

In an emotional plea, Abdulaziz urged: “In America, we claim to stand for human rights. Yet the children of Gaza are dying of hunger. Open the crossings. Let food, medicine, and equipment in. People are dying here, dying for no reason.”

A war on hospitals

Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted Gaza’s hospitals, claiming they are used by resistance groups, but international investigations and reports have debunked these claims.

Recently, Dr. Fadel Naeem, director of Al-Ahli (Baptist) Hospital in Gaza City, revealed the extreme conditions under which medical teams work, saying: “Doctors are starving, deprived of food, sleep, and rest,” even as they push themselves to the brink to save lives.

The health sector in Gaza has collapsed, with dozens of hospitals out of service due to direct bombing or the depletion of fuel and medical supplies.

For 664 consecutive days, Israel has waged relentless war on Gaza, marked by horrific massacres and war crimes against civilians and displaced families trapped under siege.
