AL-KHALIL (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Administrative detainee Moataz Mahmoud Abu Zneid, 35, died of medical negligence in Israeli prisons.
Abu Zneid was held in Ramon prison when his health condition seriously deteriorated. However, the prison administration deliberately delayed transferring him to the hospital until he fell into a coma.
He was later transferred to Soroka Hospital on January 6.
He was pronounced dead last night, January 12, 2025.
Abu Zneid, detained in June 2023, was not suffering from any health problems before his detention.
Since the start of the Israeli aggression in October 2023, 55 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli jails. This brings the total number of Palestinian prisoners who have died in Israeli custody since 1967 to 292.
Abu Zneid was arrested five times in Israeli jails, where he was engaged in hunger strikes more than once in protest against his administrative detention.
