BEIRUT, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)The Hamas Movement strongly condemned the Israeli criminal airstrikes targeting civilians and vital infrastructure in southern Lebanon, stressing that this aggression constitutes a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
In a statement issued Thursday evening, Hamas affirmed its full solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people, declaring that the attack on Lebanon is an assault on the entire Arab region.
The Movement called for urgent Arab and international action to denounce Israel’s crimes, hold it accountable for its offenses against Lebanon and Palestine, and address its threat to regional security and stability.
On Thursday evening, Israeli occupation forces launched nine airstrikes on towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, marking a significant escalation in the violations of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, the airstrikes targeted the districts of Nabatieh, Sidon, Marjayoun, Bint Jbeil (South), and Baalbek (East).
In Nabatieh, Israeli warplanes struck an area between the towns of Roumine and Houmine, while a drone attack hit the Al-Taher area on the northern outskirts of the town of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa.
In the Sidon district, two Israeli airstrikes hit the town of Bnaafoul, and another targeted the area of Kharbet Douair between Sarafand and Baysariyeh. A drone strike also hit the road between the towns of Al-Sharqiyah and Kawthariyat Al-Sayyad, creating a crater in the road.
In Marjayoun, a drone strike hit the town of Blida as residents were harvesting olives. In Bint Jbeil, a drone dropped an incendiary bomb on the town of Deir Antar.
An Israeli airstrike targeted the outskirts of Shmustar town in Baalbek. The Lebanese agency did not specify the exact targets or whether the strikes resulted in casualties.
The Israeli military claimed in a statement that it struck Hezbollah underground infrastructure in the Bekaa region and southern Lebanon.
Israel and Hezbollah reached a ceasefire agreement in November 2024, but Israel has since violated the accord over 4,500 times, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries.
In continued defiance of the agreement, Israel occupies five Lebanese hills captured during the last war, in addition to other territories it has held for decades.
