Israeli forces raid homes of Palestinian prisoners ahead of swap deal

WEST BANK, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) carried out raids early Sunday in several cities and towns in the West Bank, targeting the homes of prisoners expected to be released as part of the imminent prisoner exchange deal.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society, the IOF stormed homes in the villages of Beit Furik and Deir al-Hatab in eastern Nablus and warned families of prisoners not to hold celebrations or gatherings for their relatives following their release.

Israeli forces also raided homes of two prisoners in Yatta City in southern al-Khalil and warned their families against organizing celebrations or displaying national slogans after their relatives are released.

Other families of prisoners also received similar warnings from Israeli forces in different areas of the West Bank.

These IOF raids took place ahead of the anticipated prisoner exchange deal that will see the release of hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli jails, as part of the ceasefire agreement over the Gaza Strip.

In a separate incident, a horde of extremist Jewish settlers infiltrated into al-Tayba village in eastern Ramallah at dawn and set fire to a car belonging to a local resident.

Another group of settlers went on the rampage through an olive grove in al-Mughayyir village in eastern Ramallah, destroying about 150 trees.

Earlier at dawn, settlers also grazed their livestock on swaths of cultivated land in the same village.
