GAZA, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip confirmed that the humanitarian situation in the enclave remains unchanged since the ceasefire was declared two weeks ago, noting that no substantial developments have occurred on the ground.
In a press statement received by Safa Agency on Friday, the Civil Defense said that only a limited number of aid trucks have been allowed in, and these provide merely the bare minimum to meet the needs of the suffering population. It added that many homes remain destroyed, bodies are still trapped under the rubble, and roads remain blocked with debris, while Civil Defense teams continue to work with minimal resources amid widespread devastation.
The Civil Defense stressed the urgent need for the international community and humanitarian organizations to act immediately to begin reconstruction efforts, remove the debris caused by the massive destruction, and bring in heavy machinery and equipment necessary to clear roads and recover bodies, as part of efforts to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian suffering across all areas.
It affirmed that the continued prevention of necessary rescue and debris-removal equipment from entering Gaza worsens the humanitarian crisis, hinders field efforts, and leaves many families in tragic conditions under extremely harsh living and health circumstances.
The Civil Defense explained that despite the tireless work of its personnel under severely limited conditions, the scale of destruction to infrastructure and residential areas requires immediate international intervention.
It also called on all relevant international parties to facilitate the entry of heavy engineering equipment through the crossings without restrictions or delays, and to ensure safe humanitarian corridors for rescue and medical teams operating in the devastated areas.
Furthermore, the Civil Defense emphasized the urgent need for logistical and financial support for debris removal, body recovery, and the rehabilitation of essential infrastructure, while ensuring legal and humanitarian protection for all field workers, including Civil Defense teams.
The statement concluded by affirming the Civil Defense’s full readiness to cooperate with all international and humanitarian bodies to save lives and restore life to what the war has destroyed in Gaza.
