WEST BANK,(The Palestine Foundation Pakistan) The Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) said that the Israeli occupation government intends to seize more than 7,000 dunums of land in the Nabi Musa area of Jericho and the Jordan Valley.
In a report released on Saturday, ARIJ added that the Israel land authority had published on September 10 six new notices declaring its intent to appropriate vast tracts of Palestinian land in the areas of Deir Hajla, az-Zour, and al-Jahier.
ARIJ highlighted that these Israeli measures constitute a clear violation of the international humanitarian law. “The Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and the Hague Regulations prohibit an occupying power from seizing private property belonging to people under occupation or making any changes to the laws and regulations in occupied territories except in ways that serve the interest of the local population.”
ARIJ added that UN resolutions, notably Security Council Resolution 242 of 1967 and Resolution 2334 of 2016, affirm the illegality of settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories and declare all Israeli actions altering the status of these lands null and void.
