GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Palestinian Football Association has reported that at least 644 athletes have been killed by Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on the Strip on October 2023.
The association explained, in a post on its official Facebook page, that among the martyrs are 359 football players, administrators and workers, noting that at least 91 of the martyrs are minors and 268 of them are young men.
About 89 members of the Scout Corps and 196 others of different sports federations were also among the martyred, it added.
It also revealed that 24 athletes were arrested in the West Bank, noting that no arrests of any athletes were recorded in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Federation pointed out that Israeli occupation forces destroyed 278 sports facilities (265 in the Gaza Strip and 13 in the West Bank). It stressed that “the number of martyrs is not final in light of the missing people and the lack of sources.”
