OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Israeli far-right security minister Itamar Ben Gvir stormed on Sunday evening the Palestinian neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in Occupied Jerusalem, under tight police protection.
Ben Gvir joined hundreds of extremist Jewish settlers who flocked to the neighborhood to celebrate what they call the Lag B’Omer festival.
Local sources said that settlers carried out provocative practices and harassed Palestinian citizens living in the neighborhood while playing boisterous songs during the night hours.
The Israeli occupation police reportedly had closed the entire neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah since Sunday morning and imposed a curfew on the residents to facilitate the movement of settlers, who already seized and bulldozed a Palestinian-owned tract of land in the area to use it for their celebrations.
