STOCKHOLM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A silent march swept through the streets of the Swedish capital, Stockholm, in solidarity with the Palestinian people and to demand an end to the Zionist aggression on Gaza.
Demonstrators wore black clothing as a symbol of mourning for the martyrs in Palestine. They carried Palestinian flags, and women held white shrouds representing small children — a powerful protest against the massacre targeting children in Gaza.
Many protesters also wore medical uniforms to represent doctors and health workers, holding signs declaring that targeting medical staff and healthcare facilities in Gaza is a crime. They emphasized that international conventions forbid targeting medical personnel and facilities.
Some carried empty pots and kitchenware, symbolizing the ongoing hunger in Gaza and calling for an end to the siege and the urgent entry of life-saving aid.
Swedish citizens showed overwhelming support and emotional responses, with many along the sidewalks and in windows visibly moved, some in tears.
Leading the march were activists beating drums, expressing outrage over the continued assault on Gaza.
At the end of the event, demonstrators laid down the symbolic children’s shrouds on the ground and surrounded them with flowers, standing silently in a moment of reflection and solidarity — a quiet message to the world to act and stop the genocide.
Commenting on the event, the head of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said: “There is a glimmer of hope in the awakening of the world’s conscience. It may be late — but it is desperately needed now.”
The Israeli occupation army continues to defy the ceasefire agreement that began on January 19 and lasted nearly two months after 471 days of genocide.
Backed unconditionally by the United States, Israeli forces have continued their assault on Gaza by land, sea, and air since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of over 178,000 Palestinians, according to non-final tolls, as thousands remain trapped under the rubble.
