GAZA, (The Palestinian Information Center) The Hamas Movement said that the heroic Karama Crossing operation sends a clear message: the Israeli occupation’s genocidal policies in Gaza, ongoing annexation and settlement expansion in the West Bank, and its escalating aggression across the Arab region will not go unanswered.
In a press release, Hamas explained that the operation expands the scope of resistance against the crimes of the Israeli fascist occupation in Palestine and the broader Arab region.
Hamas described the operation as the truest expression of the overwhelming anger felt by Arab and Muslim peoples, particularly the Jordanian people and their courageous heroes, against the daily massacres and crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people, as well as the aggression toward Arab nations and regional stability.
The Movement emphasized that this act proves the will of the people is stronger than all instruments of oppression and terror, and that attempts to isolate the Palestinian people from their Arab and Islamic surroundings are doomed to fail.
Hamas stressed that the Israeli aggression will only fuel more resistance and that the Palestinian people will continue to defend their legitimate rights to live on their land, determine their own fate, and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
On Thursday evening, Israeli occupation authorities shut down Karama Crossing (Allenby Bridge) in the eastern West Bank after a shooting attack near the area.
Local sources confirmed that Israel blocked buses carrying passengers from Jordan into the West Bank and tightened its military presence in the area. They also closed entrances to Jericho, west of the crossing, and disrupted Palestinian traffic.
Two Israeli soldiers were killed in the shooting near the crossing. The attacker, Jordanian national Abdelsalam Al-Zoubi, was martyred during a gunfight with Israeli forces.
Israeli media reported that the attacker was a Jordanian truck driver transporting humanitarian aid to Gaza and that he opened fire on Israeli forces at the crossing, later engaging in a stabbing attack.
Karama Crossing is the primary border terminal for the movement of goods and individuals between Jordan and Palestine. Dozens of aid trucks and passenger vehicles pass through daily. The crossing is jointly overseen by the Israeli occupation, the Palestinian Authority, and Jordanian authorities.
