Child Muhammad Khader dies of hunger in Khan Yunis

GAZA,  (Palestine Foundation Information Center)  Five-year-old Muhammad Zakaria Khader died on Monday evening in the city of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, as a result of severe starvation and malnutrition amid the ongoing Israeli blockade and relentless aggression on the Strip.

Medical sources reported that the child Khader died at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis after suffering from extreme malnutrition and a mobility disability.

His case is one of many recurring tragedies that reflect the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza under the continued siege.

According to the Ministry of Health, hospitals in Gaza recorded five new deaths from famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours alone, bringing the total number of victims of starvation and malnutrition to 222 martyrs, including 101 children.

In recent days, deaths from malnutrition have sharply increased, with children’s bodies reduced to skeletal frames, and cases of fainting among Gaza residents on the rise as hunger worsens amid a severe shortage of food.

Hospitals and emergency rooms across the Gaza Strip are witnessing unprecedented numbers of starving citizens of all ages arriving in states of extreme exhaustion, frightening emaciation, and total weakness, their bodies shockingly wasted by hunger.

The Ministry of Health has warned of the deepening humanitarian disaster in the Strip, stressing that famine has reached catastrophic levels, threatening the lives of over two million people, with Israel’s blockade and the prevention of food and medicine entry continuing for more than 140 days.

The residents of Gaza are facing an actual wave of starvation since the occupation closed Gaza’s crossings in early March, imposing severe restrictions on the entry of food, humanitarian aid, fuel, and medicine, part of an ongoing genocide that has now entered its 21st month.
