WEST BANK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Clashes with Israeli occupation forces (IOF) erupted at dawn Thursday and overnight in the West Bank, coinciding with the release of the seventh batch of Palestinian prisoners in the prisoner exchange deal within the framework of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
The PIC correspondent reported that the clashes broke out while Israeli troops were storming Palestinian cities and towns in the northern and southern West Bank.
Local sources explained that the clashes erupted in the Al-Masakin Al-Shaabiya neighborhood east of Nablus, adding that the IOF opened fire at young men who were present in the area.
IOF soldiers stormed Nablus city from the Huwara checkpoint and were deployed in various areas in the city, then they advanced into Balata Al-Balad east of the city and arrested a Palestinian woman to pressure her son to turn himself in, the sources added.
Meanwhile, local sources said that resistance fighters targeted the invading forces with a heavy barrage of bullets on the University Street in the city.
Also in the northern West Bank, a group of young men threw two Molotov cocktails at settlers’ vehicles between the town of Azzun and the village of Nabi Elias, east of Qalqilya, according to Israeli media.
In Jenin, the IOF stormed the town of Yamoun, south of Jenin, during the night, while continuing their aggression on the city and its refugee camp for the 38th day.
For weeks, the cities of Jenin, Tulkarem, Tubas and their refugee camps have been subjected to a large-scale Israeli aggression that has resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of people and the displacement and destruction of tens of thousands, in addition to the extensive destruction of infrastructure.
Clashes also erupted in the town of Beitunia, near Ramallah, with the start of the release of dozens of prisoners from the nearby Ofer prison.
Other clashes took place in the city of Yatta, south of Al-Khalil, where Israeli forces raided the homes of a number of prisoners.
The overnight raids also affected the town of Beit Ummar, north of Al-Khalil, according to Palestinian sources.
After October 7, 2023, the pace of Israeli attacks in the West Bank escalated, resulting in the martyrdom of 925 citizens, the injury of about 7,000, and the arrest of 14,500 others, according to official Palestinian data.
