GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement has warned of a serious escalation in Israel’s policy aimed at militarizing occupied Jerusalem and forcibly entrenching it as the so-called capital of Israel, as part of systematic Judaization plans targeting the city’s identity and status.
In a press statement on Tuesday, Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi said that a newly signed strategic cooperation agreement between the Jerusalem municipality of the Israeli occupation authority and the Israeli war minister represents an extremely dangerous step in the ongoing militarization of the city.
According to Mardawi, the agreement provides for the transfer of military and security units to a massive urban complex planned at Jerusalem’s western entrance. The project includes relocating military academies, weapons research and development directorates, and advanced technological infrastructure, as well as establishing a military museum and expanding recruitment offices. It also involves the construction of housing projects designated for soldiers and officers.
Mardawi stressed that these measures reflect a clear policy to transform Jerusalem into an advanced military and security hub, impose new facts on the ground, and reshape the city’s character by binding its future to the occupation’s military establishment.
He warned that the plan is part of a broader scheme to Judaize Jerusalem, alter its demographic composition, and tighten pressure on its Palestinian residents through land confiscation, isolation policies, and forced displacement.
“These policies point toward further escalation and confrontation,” Mardawi said, emphasizing that the Palestinian people “will not accept the Judaization of Jerusalem, which remains the core of the conflict and will not be resolved except with the end of the occupation.”
Mardawi called on the international community, the United Nations, and Arab and Islamic states to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and to act urgently to halt these colonial plans.
He urged accountability for the Israeli occupation over its ongoing violations and crimes against Jerusalem and its people, carried out amid the broader genocide against the Palestinian people.
