PCMFD: The tragedy of the missing is one of the cruelest facets of the genocide in Gaza

GAZA, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan) The Palestinian Center for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared (PCMFD) has described the plight of those missing and forcibly disappeared in the Gaza Strip as “one of the cruelest facets of the ongoing genocide against the population of the coastal enclave.”

“Thousands of Palestinian families continue to search for their loved ones, whether they are trapped under rubble, lost in mass graves, or held in Israeli prisons, without receiving any reliable information or answers about their whereabouts or fate,” PCMFD said in a report on Tuesday.

PCMFD noted that the number of missing and forcibly disappeared individuals in the Gaza Strip is estimated to be between 8,000 and 9,000 cases, while approximately 5,000 cases have been officially reported so far.

PCMFD affirmed that these figures are only preliminary as ongoing Israeli attacks, frequent telecommunication blackouts, limited access to destroyed areas, and the heavy military presence across many areas continue to obstruct the full documentation of these cases.
