Gaza

Diplomatic efforts focus on ensuring Gaza does not slip back into war.

CAIRO, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Diab Al-Louh, the Palestinian ambassador to Egypt, said any guarantees for rebuilding Gaza must be tied to ensuring the war does not resume, stressing that Palestinians cannot endure another round of fighting.

Speaking to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Al-Louh called for holding an international reconstruction conference in Cairo and said Egypt is well positioned to lead Gaza’s early recovery and relief efforts.

He reaffirmed that Gaza is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory, and rejected plans for displacement or territorial division.

Al-Louh questioned whether US president Donald Trump and partners could sustain the ceasefire, adding that Palestinians seek security, peace, and dignity within an independent Palestinian state.

He said the conflict requires a political solution and called for opening Gaza’s crossings, particularly the Rafah crossing, without restrictions to allow aid, travel, and returns.

Preliminary estimates put Gaza’s destruction at around 80 percent, with reconstruction costs exceeding $70 billion.
