IOA forces Jerusalem resident to demolish his home, demolishes four houses in West Bank

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)In a renewed escalation of Israel’s forced displacement and demolition policy, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Monday compelled a Palestinian resident of Jerusalem to demolish his own home, while Israeli occupation forces (IOF) demolished four houses and agricultural rooms in the city of Jericho.

Local sources reported that the IOA municipality forced Tahir Darbas, a resident of Al-Issawiya neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, to carry out the demolition himself under the pretext of building without a permit.

According to the same sources, Darbas was threatened with heavy fines if he refused to demolish his home, part of a systematic policy by the IOA municipality that forces Palestinians to self-demolish their houses while simultaneously denying them building permits. This practice constitutes a grave violation of international law, which guarantees the right to housing.

In a related incident, IOF soldiers demolished two homes in the village of Marj Ghazal, north of Jericho, belonging to brothers Nadim and Nour Abu Jaber. One of the homes was two stories high, while the other was a single-story structure, with each floor measuring roughly 150 square meters.

Activist Kayed Masoud said that occupation forces surrounded the area during the demolition operation, noting that both buildings were constructed after 1994.

In Qalqilya, the IOF demolished a Palestinian home in the village of Al-Funduq, east of Qalqilya city, as part of the ongoing wave of destruction targeting Palestinian communities across the occupied West Bank.

Local sources reported that IOF soldiers, accompanied by a military bulldozer, stormed the village and positioned themselves in its southwestern area before demolishing a two-story stone house.

The house, which spans about 200 square meters, belonged to Bashar Tayem and was destroyed under the pretext of construction without a permit.

In a separate incident in Nablus, the IOF demolished a single-story home in the village of Furush Beit Dajan, east of the city. The house measured around 100 square meters.

Occupation soldiers forced homeowner Ismail Sadeq Ismail and his family to evacuate the building before proceeding with the demolition.

The village of Furush Beit Dajan has been facing an intensified Israeli campaign targeting its homes, with more than 90 percent of the houses reportedly under demolition threat, while many have already been destroyed.

Meanwhile, in Deir Ballut, west of Salfit, IOF bulldozers razed an agricultural room belonging to Hamada Abdel Wahhab Abdullah, claiming it was built in “Area C” without permission.

According to official Palestinian statistics, between October 7, 2023, and October 2025, the IOA carried out approximately 1,014 demolition operations across the West Bank, including Jerusalem. These operations targeted 3,679 structures, among them 1,288 inhabited homes, 244 uninhabited houses, and 962 agricultural facilities, in addition to 1,667 demolition notices issued in the same period.

Observers view these measures as part of a broader Israeli strategy aimed at emptying Jerusalem and the West Bank of their Palestinian residents, expanding Jewish-only settlements, and cementing new facts on the ground in violation of international law.
