IOF uproots olive trees, bulldozes farmland west of Jenin

JENIN, (The Palestinian Information Center)  Israeli occupation forces (IOF) uprooted olive trees and bulldozed large swaths of farmland on Wednesday morning in Khirbet al-Suruj, an area belonging to the towns of al-Yamoun and al-Arqa, west of Jenin.

Local sources said that eight Israeli bulldozers, accompanied by IOF troops, stormed the area and razed agricultural land owned by residents of the two towns. They uprooted olive trees, demolished agricultural structures, and leveled a nearby plot belonging to families from al-Arqa.

The sources added that Israeli authorities had notified landowners six months ago of their intent to destroy the olive groves and “restore the land to its previous state,” according to the occupation’s claim.

So far, more than 50 olive trees have been uprooted, while bulldozers remain active in the area. Locals expect the destruction to reach over 100 dunums of farmland planted with fruit-bearing trees, primarily olives.

Residents were barred from accessing their land as the bulldozing continued.

These wide-scale demolitions come amid IOF ongoing assault on Jenin and its refugee camp, which has been under military operations for 233 consecutive days, marked by raids, sieges, and settlement expansion across the governorate.
