East Jerusalem Settlements: Israel Discusses Over 100 New Projects

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Official Palestinian data revealed that Israeli authorities discussed 107 settlement master plans in Occupied Jerusalem in 2025, with the most dangerous being the “E1 Plan” east of the city.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission in its annual report documenting Israeli violations in the West Bank, including Occupied Jerusalem, Israeli planning committees reviewed 41 plans outside the Israeli municipality’s boundaries and 66 plans inside settlements within the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem.

The report said that these plans are part of 265 settlement master plans proposed across the West Bank, aiming to establish 34,979 settlement units over an area of approximately 33,448 dunums (about 8,270 acres).

In 2025, 20,850 settlement units from these plans were approved, while the rest remain under review.

The E1 Plan, approved in August 2025 after a 30-year delay, was identified as the most dangerous due to its strategic implications.

The plan is considered Phase One of the “Greater Jerusalem” project, aimed at annexing three major settlement blocs into Jerusalem’s municipal control: Ma’ale Adumim (already being merged de facto), Giv’at Ze’ev (northeast of the city), and Gush Etzion (to the south).

The Commission warned these actions deepen the isolation of Occupied Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings, transforming it demographically and geographically into a Jewish-majority city through aggressive settlement expansion.

The report also noted that in 2025, 10,098 new settlement units were tendered across the West Bank, with more than 7,000 allocated to Ma’ale Adumim.
