Euro-Med: Israel continues to commit genocide in Gaza despite ceasefire

GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Despite the declaration of a ceasefire on January 19, 2025, Israel continues to commit the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip by denying Palestinians the basic requirements for survival and imposing terrible living conditions on them, the Euro-Med for Human Rights revealed in a statement issued on Friday.

Euro-Med emphasized that Israel was not content with the mass killings and devastation it caused in the Gaza Strip over a period of more than 15 months, but it is now implementing policies that effectively kill the population by enforcing a complete illegal siege that hinders the flow of basic supplies and humanitarian aid, prevents the repair of essential infrastructure, and denies the provision of basic services that are essential to the population’s survival.

“Israel is well aware of the terrible impact that its unlawful actions have had on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as well as the grave and protracted repercussions that these actions entail, particularly for marginalized communities and those with challenging medical conditions. Nevertheless, in the absence of any meaningful international pressure to halt its ongoing crimes against the Palestinians, these measures are still being implemented without any reversals.”

Even though the mass murders in the Gaza Strip have stopped since the ceasefire, Israeli occupation forces still carry out direct killings of Palestinians under a number of false pretences that have no legal basis, the statement added.

Euro-Med called on the international community and the United Nations to act quickly to hold Israel responsible for its ongoing crimes against the Palestinians.

“This includes enforcing effective sanctions against it, halting all forms of military, financial, and political support and cooperation with it, including the immediate suspension of all arms sales, transfers, and purchases from it, including export licenses and military aid, and making sure that it is held accountable for its crimes against the Palestinians at all levels of government, both domestically and internationally.”

It also called for activating the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister and former army minister as soon as possible.
