GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center)The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has warned that the ongoing Israeli assault, combined with a crippling blockade and a severe shortage of basic supplies, is pushing conditions in the Gaza Strip beyond the threshold of famine.
In a report released Monday, the organization stated that Israel is waging a fierce starvation campaign in Gaza, using hunger as a central weapon in what it described as an ongoing act of genocide since October 2023.
The Euro-Med cautioned that this method of warfare is slowly claiming the lives of civilians, particularly children and the elderly, who are among the most vulnerable under the worsening humanitarian crisis.
Euro-Med also highlighted the international community’s continued failure to intervene and save the lives of over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, calling it a blatant violation of their fundamental rights to life, health, food, and protection.
The organization stressed that Israel’s impunity in using starvation as a weapon against civilians threatens the foundations of international law itself.
Euro-Med called on all nations to take urgent and concrete action to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
For 71 consecutive days, Israeli forces have imposed a total blockade on Gaza, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, medicine, and food, while resuming military operations and systematic attacks for the 56th straight day since violating the ceasefire agreement on 18 March.
Gaza residents face an intensifying crisis marked by the complete collapse of food and water supplies. All bakeries in the territory have ceased operations for 41 days, and over 2.25 million people are now at immediate risk of famine, living under bombardment, destruction, and mass killings.
According to medical and press sources, more than 40 Palestinians were killed in continuous Israeli airstrikes across various areas of Gaza within the last 24 hours.
