Euro-Med Monitor: 26 Palestinians die in Gaza within 24 hours due to starvation

GAZA   (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported on Tuesday that 26 Palestinians, including 9 children, have died in Gaza within the past 24 hours due to starvation and lack of medical care, warning that the death toll is rising at an alarming rate.

In its statement, the Geneva-based organization said that the sharp increase in deaths among elderly people, patients, and children is the result of deadly living conditions deliberately imposed by Israel, aimed at exhausting and harming the population.

These conditions, it stated, include deliberate starvation, severe suffering, and systematic denial of medical care, in addition to the ongoing comprehensive blockade.

The Euro-Med noted that the absence of an effective monitoring mechanism within Gaza’s Ministry of Health has resulted in many of these deaths being recorded as natural causes, despite their preventable nature.

The Euro-Med field team documented harrowing testimonies from elderly individuals who were forcibly displaced in recent hours while suffering from hunger.

The organization also emphasized that there is no tangible evidence that the humanitarian aid Israel claimed to have allowed in yesterday actually entered Gaza. Furthermore, it stated that the quantities of aid Israel intends to permit into the Strip are insignificant compared to the urgent and massive daily needs of the population.

The report warned that repeated displacement under heavy bombardment is further worsening the hunger crisis, causing residents to lose what little stockpiled canned food they may have had — if any.

The Euro-Med described the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as having reached catastrophic levels, with hunger now affecting all segments of society.

It called on all countries to fulfill their legal responsibilities and take immediate action to stop the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Finally, the organization urged the international community to impose economic, diplomatic, and military sanctions on Israel in response to its systematic and grave violations of international law.
