NEW YORK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center ) King Felipe VI of Spain has condemned the ongoing war on Gaza, calling it “a stain on the conscience of humanity and a disgrace to the international community.” He urged an immediate end to the killing and destruction targeting civilians.
In an official speech, the King stated, “We cannot remain silent or turn a blind eye to the destruction of schools and hospitals, the killing of civilians, and the starvation of the population in Gaza.” He emphasized that “recognizing the State of Palestine must contribute to achieving peace and supporting regional stability.”
King Felipe also called for an end to Israeli violations, stressing that while Spain acknowledges Israel’s right to self-defense, it must stop the killing and release all detainees.
He underscored the urgent need for immediate humanitarian aid access to Gaza’s population, urging the international community to take responsibility for bringing peace based on the two-state solution.
The King further expressed deep concern about the erosion of democracy and the retreat from values of coexistence among peoples. He emphasized that the role of the United Nations is indispensable in this phase, and reaffirmed Spain’s continued support for efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on international law.
He concluded his speech with a direct message, “To Israel: stop the killing.”
